| Mercy Ships is a multinational global Christian mission that has been bringing hope and healing to the peoples of developing countries since 1978, through its fleet of hospital ships. The ships bring world class medical care to the most remote coastal areas in the world and also on board are land based teams which, in addition to medical services and training, provide leadership in long term sustainable developments such as local clinics, school, orphanages and wells for clear fresh water. This is a unique opportunity to see first hand and from the inside the magnificent work being done along the west coast of Africa by Mercy Ships. Four of you will spend 5 days in comfortable air-conditioned private quarters aboard the “Africa Mercy”, the world’s newest and largest non-government hospital ship, observing the many activities, including: A Captain’s tour of the entire ship, visiting the 78 bed onboard hospital, observing surgeries and dental operations if you wish, two days ashore with a Community Development Team observing clean water, Hospice, and agricultural projects. Two afternoons and evenings are reserved for you to shop the markets, sightsee and enjoy a dinner ashore at a local hotel or restaurant specializing in local fare. During you 5 says aboard you will experience cross cultural living with the staff and volunteers from 40 nations as they serve the medical and spiritual needs of the poorest of the third world, many of whom are Muslims.
